Dems Want Large Scale Release of Detained Illegals!

It is more important than ever that we keep calm and keep our heads on straight. While the COVID-19 pandemic begs our concern it doesn’t warrant panic – or potentially dangerous and reactive measures like those being suggested by many House Democrats.

The beat of the drum sounds the same but the outcry from the Dems such as Ilhan Omar, from the infamous squad, has only become louder. And more ludicrous. As one story reported, this time those far-left socialist-leaning liberal Dems are crying for a large-scale release of immigrant detainees in light of the recent pandemic.

These outlandish responses to this crisis are the reasons why the importance of keeping calm was at the onset of our conversation. In all fairness, there is some valid reason for concern. In the same breath, it has never been so important for people to stay calm and avoid overreacting.

This latest and borderline ludicrous outcry from the far-Left mimics both panic and overreaction. According to that story, “…several progressive lawmakers are demanding the Department of Homeland Security release illegal aliens from detention and scale back other immigration enforcement measures.”

If that sounds like an awful idea, you would be right.

Of course, we aren’t cold and heartless war mongers either though, and those valid concerns don’t go without notice. The story also shared those concerns voiced by Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, along with other Democratic do-good lawmakers.

Citing a letter from the Dems regarding this situation, the story said ‘…the large-scale release of aliens in DHS detention — those in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody — was necessary to decrease the population of “overcrowded” facilities.’

And while we are at it, we should just go ahead and release as many American citizens as possible who are incarcerated for whatever offense they committed. Yes, that social distancing concept may be difficult to accommodate under certain situations.

What we don’t do, however, is panic and just let everyone go. Those Americans who are in jails, prisons, and detention centers, they are there for a reason. Those illegals in the custody of ICE, CBP, and detention centers are there for a reason too.

This also sounds like a knee-jerk and scared response because it lacks common-sense. Many of us may have heard of this new little “stay-at-home” order that has been recently put into effect by various state governments like Ohio, New York, and California. Now, how many of us believe that all of those illegals that are released will stay put? How many of us believe that most of them won’t run? A few of them?

The hard truth is, we don’t have all the answers because this is an enemy we have never faced before. The hard truth is also that releasing illegals (especially en masse) won’t help us as a whole and specifically puts Americans at an even greater risk.

It is also worth noting, as our aforementioned story pointed out, that the DHS has already been proactive in addressing many of those concerns. As the story stated, “ICE announced… that the agency would scale back its enforcement procedures, focusing on individuals who pose public safety risks and those subject to mandatory detention. Additionally, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, another agency within DHS, announced… that illegal aliens could seek COVID-19 testing without fear of being penalized under the public charge rule. ”

No, we can’t afford to sit back and wait. Yes, we must take action and find a way to fight this pandemic. What that doesn’t mean though, is that we act in a haphazard and panicked fashion that lacks foresight. It means that we don’t just start releasing illegals because we are concerned that they might be at risk, resulting in increasing the risk to the law-abiding people and innocent families and children of America.

This is surely what the President meant when he ran on the platform of putting America first again. This virus wasn’t something any of us asked for but we aren’t responsible for people making the decisions they have made either. And regardless of how dangerous this virus becomes, nobody ever said it was a get out of jail free card.

We as a people, as a country, and as the United States of America will survive this, and we will figure it out. We also don’t have those answers yet, but one thing we do know, a large-scale release of detained immigrants isn’t part of the solution.
