On April 20, 299, two teenage gunmen attacked Columbine High School killing 12 classmates and a teacher before taking their own lives.
As Jefferson County school officials planned to mark the 20th anniversary of the deadly shooting, a young “infatuated” Florida woman, 18 year old Sol Pais, seemed to be planning a “ceremony” of her own.
According to authorities, Pais made threats ahead of Saturday’s scheduled ceremony, flew to Colorado on Monday night, and purchased a pump-action shotgun and ammunition from a gun store in Littleton, Colorado very close to Columbine.
The FBI described her as “extremely dangerous.”
A massive FBI manhunt to find Pais began, closing down Denver-area schools as a precaution, canceling extracurricular activities for thousands of students.

According to news reports, Pais was found dead early Wednesday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound putting and end to the 24-hour manhunt.

Over the past 20 years, there have been over 100 copycat shooters inspired by Columbine since 1999. According to an investigative report by Mother Jones, there has been an increase in threats consisting of more than 800 cases, 46 of which were found serious enough to get the Jefferson County threat assessment team involved.
Jefferson County school officials said events planned to mark the anniversary this weekend will go on as scheduled, including a ceremony at Columbine on Saturday.
