Apparently, in the eyes of the far left, taking out a known international terrorist means being a terrorist yourself. Or at least that is what one House candidate said of President Donald Trump this week.
Since the late 1970s, the Islamic Republic of Iran, ran by extremists, has placed a target on Americans time and time again. So it did not surprise many Americans when Qud forces under Iranian General Qassem Soleimani attacked the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, a puppet state of Iran. As our Commander-in-Chief and the protector of our nation, President Trump retaliated, fighting fire with fire, and took out Soleimani.
But in the days and weeks following President Trump’s order to attack and kill Soleimani, many have questioned whether or not it was a good idea for America. Former Vice President Joe Biden likened it to “throwing dynamite in a tinderbox,” making a chaotic situation even more so. Democrats nationwide seem to agree and are up in arms about it.
But it seems that the people of Iran see things a bit differently. In fact, they have been protesting in the streets of their country against the terroristic regime that still leads them.
ABC’s “This Week” interviewer and former Clinton White House communications director George Stephanopoulos had the opportunity to talk to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last week about this protesting.
He asked, “We’re seeing now demonstrations in the streets of Iran against the regime. Do you support those protestors, and would it be a good thing if they brought the regime down?
Now, to any right-minded American, the answer would have been, “Yes! Absolutely.” But apparently, Pelosi isn’t just any American and she certainly isn’t right-minded.
Instead, she explained it away as an entirely different issue. She claimed that the protests were not because of the regime but as a result of the accidental shooting down of Ukraine Airlines Flight 752 last Wednesday. It is believed that Iranian anti-aircraft crews, being nervous about retaliation for the embassy attack, accidentally shot down the commercial jet, killing 176 innocent passengers.
Pelosi said, “Well, the regime – the protesters are – are protesting, as I understand it, this brand of protesters, about the fact that that plane went down. And many students were on that plane. And these are largely students in the street.”
Stephanopoulos corrected her, though, saying, “They’re calling out the regime for lying. They’re saying, ‘death to Khameini’ as well,” referring to Iran’s Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khameini.
As a result of Pelosi’s denial to place blame anywhere but on Trump, social media called her out.
One such Twitter post showed photoshopped images of Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer dressed in Islamic attire and standing in front of an Iranian flag. It read, “The corrupted Dems trying tier best to come to the Ayatollah’s rescue.”
And when President Trump retweeted the post, things really got heated. Democratic Georgia House candidate Nabilah Islam criticized the President, saying he was only making matters worse and more.
“This is reckless, dangerous and further proof this administration wants to create a sense of otherism around Muslims. It only adds to the rising islamophobia we face daily and exacerbates an atmosphere of heightened hate.”
In another tweet, Islam added, “(Donald Trump) is America’s #1 domestic Terrorist.”
Islam is running in a crowded Democratic field for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District, where longtime Republican Representative Rob Woodall is soon to be retiring from. Islam, while having many other opponents, including 2018 candidate Carolyn Bourdeaux, who narrowly lost that year, is seen by many as Atlanta’s very “own AOC,” according to NBC News.
However, what her and Pelosi’s constant criticism points to is a hatred for Trump that just about matches what Iranian leadership feels for America. Trump Derangement Syndrome runs so rampantly in the party that they no longer see the flaws of anyone else but our President.
Pelosi, rather than admitting what the rest of the world knows, turned protests about a terroristic regime into complaints about Trump.
Islam, rather than acknowledging that Pelosi didn’t know what she was talking about or defending her country, did the same thing. She made it all about Trump and what she believed was a poor decision.
Everyone knows that the world would be a better place without trigger happy, extremists in charge of Iran. But it seems that Democrats are so blinded by their obsession to oust Trump, they would instead choose terrorism than democracy.
