Uh-Oh! Mayor’s Wife Busted at a Coronavirus Party

All across America, every state seems to have its own struggles with getting people to follow the stay at home order.  In Illinois, one mayor had a problem in more ways than one.

It wasn’t just the citizens of his community; he had trouble keeping everyone at home, including his wife.  For the most part, many citizens have followed the required mandate, but it seems his wife has been a “bad girl.”

Alton Mayor Brant Walker had to deliver an unforgettable apology when he arrived at the office at the beginning of this week.  Over the weekend, people were throwing coronavirus parties as they defied the stay at home rules.

Mayor Walker called on police to break up every illegal party in the city.  At one of those parties was the mayor’s wife.  So this goes to show people, even the politicians have trouble keeping people at home who live in their own homes.  BUSTED!!!

As with all the cities, counties, and states those in charge are working to stop the spread of COVID-19.  Public and private gatherings have been banned for weeks now as we are over 20 days into staying away from everyone.

Imagine the expression on Mayor Walker’s face when he found out his wife was busted at one of those parties he authorized to break up.  Heck, imagine the Chief of Police’s face when he realized he had to call the mayor and inform him of the unfortunate news.

For real, what do you do with her?  Do you let her go?  Do you call it in over the phone before an announcement is made over the CB radio?  These are some of the things that would go through anyone’s mind before having to call the bossman and tell him what just happened that “We just arrested your wife.”

Since news spreads fast among people, almost as quickly as COVID-19, the mayor decided it was best to make a public announcement over Facebook apologizing to the citizens of Alton for his wife’s behavior.

He explained in his statement that he was acting on the Governor’s orders to enforce the stay at home policies.  He added that no one was above the law.

Mayor Walker wrote, “At approximately 1 am on Sunday morning, I was informed by the Police Chief that the Alton Police Department was investigating and stopping a social gathering in downtown Alton.  I was also made aware that my wife was in attendance at this prohibited social gathering.”

The mayor then instructed the Chief of Police to deal with his supposed to be better half “as he would any citizen violating the ‘Stay At Home’ order and ensure she received no special treatment.”

He added in his response to ensure the citizens of Alton no one would receive mercy and get away with any crimes.  “My wife is an adult capable of making her own decisions, and in this instance, she exhibited a stunning lack of judgment.  She now faces the same consequences for her ill-advised decision as to the other individuals who chose to violate the ‘Stay At Home’ order during this incident.”

Mayor Walker concluded with his feelings in the incident by saying, “I am embarrassed by this incident and apologize to the citizens of Alton for any embarrassment this incident may cause our City.”

Wow!  We can kind of feel bad for the man while understanding his position as mayor at the same time.  This is a decision that can work both ways.  If he lets his wife off the hook, then people will see it as favoritism.

If he throws her in jail or fines her for breaking the law, she will not be too happy with him. Things will get pretty cold at home.  It is truly a no-win situation.

If she received a fine, technically, it comes out of their household funds, which means he is paying the price too.  The one who really comes out the loser in this situation is the mayor.  Poor fella.

No matter how anyone looks at the picture, this is hilarious.  The mayor will be respected and the butt end of jokes at the same time.

With the current situation as of Tuesday, the confirmed cases in America are quickly approaching the 400,000 mark and there are records of over 12,300 deaths.  One can look at this seriously and realize the mayor of Alton did what he did for the greater good in keeping the city safe.
